Data verifications in an international context: BIC/IBAN/social security

Before getting started

We need to make sure that the sensitive information in the HR file is accurate (BIC, IBAN, social security, etc.) via validation rules, taking international issues into account.

Here are the details of the validations that have been added:

  • Verification of the French social security number;
  • Verification of the Spanish social security number;
  • Verification of the Swiss social security number;
  • Verifications of the BIC and IBAN (addition of the American bank account format).

Verification of social security numbers according to the rules of the legal unit's country

If the legal unit is in France, we'll verify the number according to French rules. 13 figures are no longer sufficient for France; 15 figures are required. The last two figures correspond to a key and allow us to better verify social security numbers and to avoid a client having 13 characters in some cases and 15 characters in others.

If the legal unit is in Spain or Switzerland, we'll verify the numbers according to local rules and then according to French rules (for French employees working overseas).

If the legal unit is not in France, Spain, or Switzerland, the social security number will not be verified. It should be noted that the validation is not a verification of consistency (we don't check whether the number actually corresponds to the employee in question; we only check that it is compliant).

Verifications are applied following edits or updates to a field in the HR file, as well as in other modules such as imports, onboarding, and update requests (where 15 figures are now required for the social security number).

Bank accounts

For bank accounts, if using the IBAN format, you can now validate and automatically retrieve the BIC and the name of the bank.

If the American bank account format is used (or any other format), you can still add it without validation.
