Document generation - Add a specific character font

Before getting started

Have you created a document template but noticed that the character font was changed/altered during the generation process? This is most likely linked to the fact that the .docx > .pdf conversion tool does not support the font that you used in your .docx document.

To resolve this issue, you can include the character font directly in the Word file. The conversion tool will prioritize the use of this font.

If a font isn't included in the file, there are two options:

  • Either the conversion tool "knows" the font used, in which case it will be used;
  • Or it doesn't support the font and will use the closest font available.

Including the font directly in the Word document

Microsoft Word uses the fonts installed on your computer. To view them, you can go to the system settings: Windows > Personalization > Fonts.

When you save a Word document and share it with a third party, the latter will also need to have the font installed on their computer in order for them to get the same document display as you.

Otherwise, there's a solution by which you save the font directly in the Word document when you save the document.

To do this, open Microsoft Word and go to File > Options > Save.

In the "Preserve fidelity when sharing this document" section, select the checkbox "Embed fonts in the file".

You can then save the document and create the template in Core HR.
