Setting up a campaign with Training and Skills questions

Before getting started

When it's time for annual reviews, whether they're professional reviews or another review type, you can assess employees' skills and see which training courses they have completed and requested.

If you have the Skills module or if you want to install it, we've put together an explanation of how to configure Skills questions on this help page. As a reminder, the Skills module is included in your Poplee Performance subscription (you can find more information at this link).

If you have Poplee Training, you can use Completed training courses and Ongoing requests and courses questions in the configuration of your campaign form. If you don't have Poplee Training, you can find the information by clicking on the "rocket ship" icon on the top-right of your home page.

These question types can be used to facilitate and optimize the collection and management of skills and training courses. If you don't want to use them, you can use HR file data questions, as explained on this help page.

The Skills -type question

To assess your employees’ skills, you need to add a "Skills"-type question in your review campaign when creating the form.

You will then be offered two options:

  • The first option, "Skills related to the qualification," allows you to assess the job-related skills of your employees.

By choosing this option, the skills associated with each employee’s qualification (as defined in the skills grids when setting up your framework) will automatically be displayed in their review with the required level. If you choose this option, make sure that the employees being assessed have a related qualification, otherwise no skill will be displayed in their review.

  • The second option, "Other skills," allows you to select one or more specific skills to be assessed as part of your review campaign.

For example, if you would like an overview of your employees’ level of English, you can select this skill. Your employees will have to assess themselves on this, even if it’s not a skill associated with their qualification.

Before launching your review campaign, you can view the skills displayed in a review, at the Preview step of setting up the campaign.

For further information

You can edit your skills framework at any time in the skills settings via the cog wheel.

However, we recommend that you wait for the end of your review campaign to make any edits to skills or skills grids, because any edit is immediately reflected in reviews that have not yet been carried out. By editing skills during a campaign, you run the risk of your employees not being assessed along the same lines.

The Completed training courses question type

This question will let you populate the training courses completed by the employee that are already found in Poplee Training. You'll be able to display these completed training courses from a customized date. Training courses listed as required on Poplee Training (see help sheet) will appear in the review with this indication as shown below.

The Ongoing requests and courses question type

This question will let you set the pace of and collect training requests, and it will also let the employee being evaluated discuss their training requests with their manager during the review, which is a good time to discuss this topic.

By selecting it in the review framework, you can populate your employees' reviews with the training requests and ongoing requests and courses in Poplee Training with the status:

- Pending prioritization
- Pending processing
- Pending registration
- To start
- In progress

Depending on your users' permissions, they can submit a training request via the labelled button (you can find more information on this help page).
